Billy Hall turns wood by hand to make these lamps.
Amazingly he gets them down to 1/32″ – 3/32″ (0.8mm – 2.4mm!!).

What I love about these film and slide lamps by artist Michael Marcovici is that the material has been re-purposed but is still being used for it’s original intended purpose – for shining light through.

Cassette Is Not Dead make and sell a whole range of these recycled cassette tape lamps. They’ll even make you one in exchange for your old tapes if you send them enough.

I’ve made and sold quite a few of these recycled circuit board/timber lamps. They give a warm ambiance to most rooms.
Although the general design is repeatable (something not always achievable when working with recycled materials and found objects) every one is totally unique due to the wide variations in the timbers and circuit boards used.
